1. In large bowl, combine flour, flaxseed, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
2. Add 1 cup buttermilk and egg and whisk until smooth. Let stand 15 minutes.
3. Add remaining 1/2 cup buttermilk and oil, whisk until smooth.
4. Pour batter into preheated waffle iron sprayed with cooking spray. Serve immediately.
